Along with Harsh Mahajan, other bjp leaders have also claimed to be in minority in the government. It is believed that in the meeting that Harsh Mahajan had with Union home minister amit shah and bjp National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, there was discussion about taking this entire incident forward.

Moreover Harsh Mahajan, who has more than 40 years of political experience in the politics of Himachal Pradesh, is known as a manager. By showing political acumen with this management, he won the rajya sabha elections despite bjp having only 25 seats. In the beginning, Harsh Mahajan kept asking the congress MLAs to listen to their conscience and cast their votes, but till the last moment, Harsh Mahajan played with his management. Six congress MLAs along with three independent MLAs voted in support of Mahajan. After this, out of the total 68 votes of the MLAs, the election was a draw between Harsh Mahajan and abhishek Manu Singhvi with 34-34 votes. After this, Harsh Mahajan won by lottery under the draw of lots rule.
