Sucheta Kriplani became the first MP
In 1952, Sucheta Kripalani from Kisan Mazdoor Praja party won this seat and became the first MP. She remained mp on this seat till 1957. In the second lok sabha elections in 1957, she became mp from this seat on congress ticket and remained mp till 1960, while Balraj Madhok of Bharatiya Jan Sangh became mp from here till 1961-62. rajesh khanna gave tough competition to Advani

To defeat him, congress fielded the then superstar Rajesh Khanna. rajesh khanna, contesting his first election, had given a tough fight to Advani and lost by just 1589 votes.
Since Advani had contested the elections from two seats, he had left the New delhi lok sabha seat. On which lok sabha elections were held in 1992 and in this, superstar rajesh khanna won by hoisting the flag of his stardom and remained mp from here till 1996. After that, he became mp from bjp for three consecutive times between 1996 and 2004 for the 11th, 12th and 13th Lok Sabha. He is the only one who became mp from this seat for three consecutive times. After that, from 2004-09 and 2009-14, ajay Maken of congress won this seat. meenakshi lekhi from bjp maintained her dominance on this seat further in 2014-2019 and 2019-2014.
