The Samajwadi party and the congress have finally come to an arrangement over seat sharing for the upcoming lok sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, following several days of political back and forth. On february 21, both parties together held a press conference in Lucknow, when they formally announced seat sharing.Uttar Pradesh has a total of 80 lok sabha seats. The congress will run for 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the next elections under the 'India' coalition. Candidates from the Samajwadi party will compete for the final 63 seats. Amethi, Rae Bareli, kanpur Nagar, Sitapur, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Varanasi, Barabanki, Deoria, Amroha, Jhansi, Bulandshahr, Saharanpur, Mathura, and ghaziabad are among the seats from which the congress will stand for election. The Samajwadi party sought to run for the madhya pradesh seat of Khajuraho in the upcoming elections under the alliance, and the congress consented.Congress and SP reach a consensus about seat sharingBoth parties had been engaged in a struggle for seats for nearly a month.
