Congress and SP reach a consensus about seat sharing

Both parties had been engaged in a struggle for seats for nearly a month. Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi party, declared in january that his organization was prepared to offer congress 11 seats. At that time, Jayant Chaudhary's Rashtriya Lok Dal... belonged to the "India" opposition alliance. congress couldn't agree on 11 seats at the time. congress consistently applied pressure to raise the number of seats. congress insisted on demanding twenty seats. All of the major players in congress have been stating for the better part of a month now that discussions are still ongoing and that no decision has been made regarding seat sharing.

Akhilesh Yadav continued to blame delays. He exerted pressure on rahul Gandhi, demanding that they agree to share seats only if he was granted permission to join his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. In spite of this, the Congress's top brass persisted in refraining from making any public comments about the number of seats. Simultaneously, jairam ramesh and mallikarjun Kharge both insisted that congress would run alongside the Samajwadi party in the Uttar Pradesh elections.
