Big action by NIA- Raids in ISIS activities-blast case, 4 people arrested

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on saturday raided 21 locations in tamil Nadu in connection with the activities of terrorist organization isis and the coimbatore bomb blast case and arrested four people. This action against terrorism was taken by NIA on saturday (February 10). NIA has arrested four people for promoting radicalism on behalf of isis and recruiting youth for the terrorist organization.

What was recovered in the NIA raid?

A large number of electronic devices, other items and documents have been seized from the locations raided by the NIA. The recovered items include six laptops, 25 mobile phones, 34 SIM cards, six SD cards and three hard disks etc. Raids were conducted at 11 places linked to madras Arabic College/Kovai Arabic college in connection with the radicalization case. According to the allegation, the individuals were involved in covertly radicalizing gullible youth under the guise of Arabic language classes through propagating radical ideologies and promoting violent jihad at their regional study centers in tamil Nadu.

Classrooms and social media used for radical preaching

In addition to Arabic classes, radicalization took place online through social media platforms and applications such as whatsapp and Telegram. NIA investigation revealed that isis operatives were using classrooms and social media to deliver radical sermons to propagate Khilafat and isis ideology against India's constitutionally established principles of secularism, democracy etc. NIA simultaneously raided 10 other locations related to the car bomb blast case. Investigation revealed that the suspects had praised slain Sri Lankan terrorist Zahran Hashim, who was preaching hatred and violence and had masterminded the PBIED attack that killed more than 250 civilians in Colombo, sri lanka in 2019.
