Reportedly the process of nomination for the six vacant rajya sabha seats in bihar has started. Parties and candidates are now engaged in manipulation regarding the elections. While congress is dependent on its allies in this election, it is believed that bharatiya janata party will benefit. rajya sabha MPs from bihar whose tenure is ending include RJD's Manoj Kumar Jha and ahmed Ashfaq Karim, JDU's Anil prasad Hegde and Vashishtha Narayan Singh, BJP's sushil kumar modi and congress state president Akhilesh prasad Singh.

Meanwhile if we look at the assembly numbers mathematically, bjp is sure to gain in this election, while the Left parties and congress will have to rely on their allies. No name has been revealed by JDU till now, but it is being said that JDU may reveal some surprising name. If bjp sources are to be believed, the State Core Committee has given the list of possible names to the Central Committee. It is said that the Central Committee may announce the names soon. On the basis of arithmetic in the assembly, RJD can also send two candidates to rajya sabha again in this election. Although the candidates have not been announced yet, but sources claim that Manoj Kumar Jha can be sent to rajya sabha again. Many other names are also being discussed, including many Muslim leaders.

Moreover there is a situation of confusion regarding congress state president Akhilesh Singh. This is the biggest dilemma for Congress. Congress's own number of MLAs is 19. RJD has 79 MLAs. Even if congress gets RJD's support after RJD wins two MPs, the number for congress to win will be less. In this situation the entire game depends on the Left parties, which have 16 MLAs. If the Left party also gives a candidate, it will need Congress. The last date for nomination is 15 february while elections will be held on 27 February.
