Madrasa was built on Nazul land – District Magistrate

Krishanthini

No one has ownership rights on Nazul land. Such land remains vacant without heirs for a long period. The government takes over such land. Nazul land is not officially recorded in government revenue documents. The place where the violence took place is a densely populated area. The number of Muslims is more here. Haldwani administration has been running a campaign for the last several days to remove encroachment on railway land in Banbhulpura area. The administration is repeatedly saying that as soon as the work of demolishing the so-called illegal madrassa was done, a large number of people came and started creating ruckus. Then stone pelting started, after which retaliatory action was taken by the police. Later the mob got angry and attacked the police station.

Issue of violence and negligence of administration also

It is being said by the administration that before starting the demolition process, the Municipal Corporation had taken legal possession of it. Despite this, if such violence occurs, many questions are raised on the administration. When the administration knew that the area was sensitive, then whose responsibility was it to make adequate security arrangements before taking any encroachment action…the most important question is this.

Strictest action should be taken against those who were involved in violence, no matter which religion they belong to. But still the question is, how did such violence happen? The administration knew that it was a matter related to religion, so why were adequate precautions not taken.
