Kisan Samman Nidhi announced in Interim Budget itself
Provision was made to implement this scheme from an earlier date i.e. december 2018 itself. Its purpose was to ensure that the amount of the scheme reaches the accounts of a large number of farmers before the lok sabha elections to be held in April-May 2019. The scheme started immediately after the announcement in february 2019. You will be surprised to know that at present, maximum allocation is made for this scheme under the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department.
Modi government had announced the launch of this scheme in the interim budget before the 2019 lok sabha elections. Along with this, the Modi government had also broken the tradition under which governments avoided launching any major scheme in the interim budget. The way the Modi government had launched this scheme related to direct benefits to farmers in the interim budget last time, the intention behind it must have been to gain immediate electoral benefits.
