Currently slogans of 'Nitish for PM' were echoed at a rally organized by bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's party JDU here on Wednesday. This rally is being seen as a show of strength by JDU before the lok sabha elections. The 'Extremely Backward Conference' was organized by the party to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of OBC leader and Nitish Kumar's mentor, former chief minister Karpoori Thakur. It has been announced that Karpoori Thakur will be given the country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna'.

Meanwhile Nitish Kumar, who took over as party president last month, has been insisting that he has 'no personal ambitions' despite being a key figure in the opposition 'India' alliance. Nitish Kumar, the longest serving chief minister of bihar, said, 'I would request my friends from the media to keep their reporting focused on the function organized in the memory of Karpoori Thakur and not speculate too much about me. I am just busy in my work.

Moreover the JDU chief seemed happy to see the 'huge crowd' that gathered at the city's Veterinary college grounds. patna city was awash with party workers from across the state. Many of them were staying in tents in the ‘Miller High School’ grounds. Nitish Kumar's former ally bjp also wanted Miller High school grounds for itself. He held a demonstration in front of his office on Veerchand patel Marg, where party leaders climbed on top of a truck designed like a stage and celebrated Karpoori Thakur's birth anniversary on the road in protest.
