PM Modi obtains blessings from elephants in temple!!!

When prime minister Narendra Modi went to the Ranganathaswamy temple in Tiruchirappalli, tamil Nadu, on Saturday, he asked an elephant for blessing. On the internet, a picture of the elephant congratulating the prime minister with his trunk has gone viral. PM Modi was dressed in a white "veshti," or dhothi, and an angawastram, or shawl, at the Lord vishnu shrine. His hands were folded as he prayed. He fed the elephant in the temple, and it bestowed blessings upon him.

After praying to Sri Ranganathaswamy, Modi received a crown, or "Sadari," from temple priests, which represents Lord Vishnu's blessings. At several "sannadhis," or unique enclosures for deities, the PM led prayers. These included shrines dedicated to two Vaishnavite saint-gurus, Sri Chakkarathazhwar and Sri Ramanjuacharya. The Srirangam temple is located at the meeting point of the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers, on an island. The massive temple was built with contributions from the Pandyas, the Hoysalas, the Cholas, and the Vijayanagara empire. The temple is sometimes referred to as "Vaikuntam on earth" or "Boologa Vaikuntam." Lord Vishnu's eternal home is Vaikuntam.

On his journey to the temple on Saturday, the prime minister waved to the crowds of people and bjp workers who had assembled at strategic locations to welcome him. He had traveled from Chennai. Modi is scheduled to visit many important tamil Nadu temples on january 20–21.

In this temple, the prime minister will also hear a number of academics recite passages from the Kamba Ramayanam.  Later, at about 2:00 pm, PM Modi would offer prayers at the Arulmigu ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram and conduct darshan and pooja there.
