In india, land is seen as power. Land and gold have special value here. We have seen that many people are trying to buy a piece of land in their lifetime. Like gold, land is an investment in our country.


Land rules have changed in india since the zamindari system of 1793 till now. But the tradition of holding land or investing in property for future security remains unchanged till date.



Different states in india follow different procedures or laws while purchasing land. For example, in some states, only a farmer can purchase agricultural land, but in some states, there are no such restrictions on purchasing agricultural land.


But how much land can one buy in India? How much land can you own? Are there any limitations to it? Many people may be interested to know that. After the abolition of zamindari system some rights were given to the states. Accordingly, buying land in india varies from state to state. No such rule applies to non-agricultural land. But who can buy agricultural land? Governments decide how much they can buy.


Accordingly, in tamil Nadu one can buy land at a maximum of 59.95 per person. According to the kerala Land Reforms Act, 1963, an unmarried individual can own a maximum of 7.5 acres of land. A joint family of more than 5 members cannot own more than 15 acres of land.


In Maharashtra, only those who are already in the agricultural sector can buy agricultural land. The maximum landholding limit in the state is 54 acres. According to the West bengal Land Reforms Act, a person can own 24.5 acres of agricultural land in the state. Can't buy more than that.


In the state of Himachal Pradesh, one can buy a maximum of 32 acres. Like Maharashtra, in karnataka only those in the agricultural sector can buy agricultural land. Or, only a person with an annual income of less than 25 lakhs can buy agricultural land in karnataka state.


As per the Uttar Pradesh Land Reforms Act, 1960 the ceiling is 12.5 acres. In bihar one can own 15 acres including agricultural and non-agricultural land. You can buy any amount of non-agricultural land in Haryana.
