According to sources nitish kumar never directly talked about becoming the Prime Ministerial candidate. But from his statements it seems that somewhere he has a desire to become PM. After separating from nda, he had once said, 'We will not form an alliance with bjp as long as we are alive. Now, we will serve bihar and the country by staying where we are. Apart from this, his party leaders have often called him the most eligible contender for the post of PM. Even RJD leaders have said that nitish kumar is the most qualified candidate for the post of PM.

Last year, RJD's senior leader and mla Bhai Virendra had said in a statement - The prime minister of the country should be from bihar, it is only because of Nitish Kumar's campaign that the entire opposition has been able to unite. However, some people also took taunt on this. Said that RJD wants to make nitish kumar the PM so that Tejashwi Yadav can sit on the Chief Minister's chair in Bihar.

lok sabha elections are to be held in the country in a few months. india alliance is in direct competition with bjp and nda led by narendra Modi. The possibility of nitish kumar becoming prime minister depends on how many seats india alliance wins in the 2024 lok sabha elections. If all the parties of the alliance together are able to win at least 272 seats in the lok sabha, only then there will be hope for nitish kumar to become the Prime Minister. If the alliance fails to defeat bjp or wins even one seat less out of 272, then its hopes of coming to power and Nitish becoming the PM will end. If there are less than 272 seats, the support of other opposition parties will be required. This will not be easy. In an opinion poll of ABP news C Voter in december 2023, nda seems to be getting a clear majority. According to this, nda may get 295 to 335 seats, while india Alliance is expected to get 165 to 205 seats. Others may get 35-65 seats. If we talk about vote percentage, nda may get 42 percent, india Alliance may get 38 percent and others may get 20 percent.
