Skill Development Scam Verdict: Supreme Court Reports Split Opinions.!

The supreme court has delivered a verdict on the quash petition filed by telugu desam party (TDP) chief chandrababu naidu in the Skill Development Scam case. The two-judge bench, consisting of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M. Trivedi, expressed differing views on the interpretation of Section 17A, creating a notable divergence of opinions.

Justice Aniruddha Bose's stance was that Section 17A is applicable to chandrababu naidu in the skill case. He asserted that permission from the governor should be obtained before investigating Chandrababu's case, emphasizing that the previous investigation should not be applied to his arrest. However, he clarified that the remand order imposed on Chandrababu cannot be invalidated solely due to the absence of permission.


On the other hand, Justice Bela M. Trivedi dissented from Justice Bose's judgment, stating that Section 17A does not apply to Chandrababu in this case. He highlighted that the 2018 amendment is only related to the date and cannot be linked to the Anti-Corruption Act. Justice Trivedi ruled that Section 17A should not serve as protection for those obstructing the authority to commit a crime.


Given the conflicting opinions, the judges announced that they are reporting to the Chief Justice of india (CJI) for further action. chandrababu naidu had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the supreme court seeking to dismiss the Skill Development case registered by the andhra pradesh CID without the Governor's permission. The bench had heard arguments on october 17 and recently delivered its divergent opinions. The matter will now be reported to the CJI for further consideration.
