Reportedly aam aadmi party (AAP) has announced its candidates for the elections to be held on three rajya sabha seats of Delhi. AAP has made delhi Commission for women (DCW) Chairperson swati Maliwal, sanjay singh and Narayan Das Gupta as rajya sabha candidates. sanjay singh and N.D. Gupta is also a sitting mp in Rajya Sabha. Whereas swati Maliwal has got a chance for the first time. swati Maliwal has been made the candidate in place of Sushil Kumar Gupta. elections will be held on three rajya sabha seats of delhi on january 19. However, the tenure of sanjay singh, Narayan Das Gupta and Sushil Kumar Gupta is ending on january 27. On december 22, the election commission had announced elections for three rajya sabha seats in Delhi. The nomination process has started on january 2. january 9 is the last date for filing forms. After this, scrutiny will be done on january 10. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 12 January. On january 19, voting will take place from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will begin at 5 pm.

Meanwhile AAP can once again win all three rajya sabha seats of Delhi. This is because there are 70 seats in the assembly. Of these, AAP has MLAs on 62 seats and bjp on eight seats. The public does not vote in rajya sabha elections, but the MLAs do. In such a situation, the number of votes required for victory is already decided. The number of votes is calculated on the basis of total MLAs and number of rajya sabha seats. In this, the value of vote of an mla is 100.

Formula for rajya sabha elections in Delhi

Total votes/(number of rajya sabha seats+1)+1

70/(3+1) +1= 18.5

This means that to win the rajya sabha elections in delhi, a candidate will need (70/4) + 1 i.e. 18.5 votes (19 votes) to win. In this way, all three of your candidates are considered victorious. It is noteworthy that the tenure of 68 members of rajya sabha including nine Union Ministers is completing this year.
