There is a ban on contesting elections. According to the prosecution, on september 2, 2002, Mahsi Tehsil Deputy district Magistrate Lal Mani Mishra had registered a case against the mla at Hardi police station. He had alleged that Sureshwar Singh had entered the SDM office and created obstruction in the government work, misbehaving with the SDM and threatening him.
On january 4, MP/MLA court (MP-MLA Court) judge Anupam Dixit sentenced the mla to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,500. According to the order, if they do not pay the fine, they will have to data-face additional punishment of seven days.
