Jallikattu for 8 hours...Petition to District Collector..!?
A petition was submitted to the district Collector on behalf of the Jallikattu Protection and Welfare Association, insisting that jallikattu should be held for 8 hours in Dindigul district and the online token system should be cancelled. A petition was presented to the district Collector on behalf of the Jallikattu Welfare Society in Dindigul district. In the petition, "Jallikattu competition has been conducted in the district from 8 am to 2 pm in the past years. But as in other districts, the competition should be held till 4 pm. Similarly only 500 bulls are allowed in jallikattu competition. Allow up to 750 bulls to be released.
A separate welfare board should be set up on behalf of the tamil Nadu government for Jallikattu cattle breeders and bull breeders. To change the system of issuing entry tickets online to the bulls and cowherds participating in the Jallikattu competition, steps should be taken to issue permission slips on behalf of the village festival committee that conducts Jallikattu with the approval of the animal husbandry department.
More than 50 cowherds and cow breeders from many towns including Billama Nayakkanpatti, Kosavapatti, Maravapatti, Ulagapatti visited Dindigul district Collector's office on behalf of Dindigul district Jallikattu Welfare Association today and presented the signed petitions to district Collector Poonkodi.
