BSP leader Yakub Qureshi's benami property seized?
meerut police attached illegally acquired movable and immovable property of BSP leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Yakub Qureshi. The value of the attached property is approximately Rs 31 crore 77 thousand 200. Senior Superintendent of police Rohit Singh Sajwan said that in compliance with the order of the district Magistrate court, under Section 14(1) of the gangster Act, benami property of former minister Yakub Qureshi with an estimated value of Rs 31 crore 77 thousand 200 has been seized. Qureshi had purchased this property in the name of his family members and employees.
This also includes a hospital, two luxury cars, plots and other properties of Qureshi. The total assets include a hospital building in Bhavani nagar, Nauchandi, plots of land measuring 3265.35 square metres, 288 square meters and 213.60 square meters in Shastri nagar purchased by Qureshi in the name of his relatives and two luxury cars. On march 31, 2022, the police raided a meat factory of Yakub Qureshi in meerut and caught a case of packing of illegally brought meat. He told that the police had arrested 10 employees of the factory during this action. 17 people including Qureshi, his wife and two sons were named in this case. In december 2022, a case was registered under the gangster Act against Qureshi, his wife Shamjida Begum, sons Firoz and Imran along with factory managers Mohit Tyagi, Mujeeb and Faizyab.
An FIR was registered under the gangster Act in Kharkhonda police station of meerut against Yakub Qureshi, who was a minister in the BSP government of Uttar Pradesh. In this case, former minister Yakub Qureshi was also lodged in Sonbhadra jail. However, the BSP leader was granted bail by the allahabad High court in the gangster case and the court accepted the bail application and ordered his release from jail. In the raid on meat factory Al Faheem Meatex Private Limited, an FIR was lodged at Kharkhoda police station against 17 people including former minister Haji Yaqoob Qureshi and his sons Imran Yaqeeb and Firoz Yaqoob.
