According to the RTI reply, the central government spends up to Rs 6.25 lakh to set up a permanent 3D selfie point with the image of prime minister Modi at each railway station and Rs 1.25 lakh to set up a temporary selfie point. Responding to a query filed under RTI by retired railway official ajay Bose, Central Railway Deputy General Manager Abhay Mishra said that 3D selfie points with Modi's image have been installed at 50 railway stations in five railway zones - Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, pune and Solapur.


Temporary selfie points have been set up at 30 A category railway stations including Chhatrapati shivaji Railway Station, Kalyan, Nagpur, Betul; According to the reply to the RTI application, permanent selfie points have been installed at 20 C-type railway stations like Karjat, Kasara, Latur, Gobargaon. The Central Bureau of Communications, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is giving Rs 1.25 lakh to set up a temporary 3D selfie point at each A-class railway station. According to the RTI reply, Rs 6.25 lakh has also been approved to set up a permanent 3D selfie point at the C-type railway station.


In response to another RTI query, the Northern Railway said that selfie points with the Prime Minister's image will be installed at 100 different railway stations across the country and some stations will have more than one selfie point. For example, at Dehradun, Ambala, New Delhi, Amritsar, ayodhya and Chandigarh, three selfie points will be installed at each station. The tiruchirappalli Division of Southern Railway has responded to an RTI query that 3D selfie booths of the prime minister will be set up at 11 railway stations including tiruchirappalli Junction, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur Junction and Vellore Cantonment.


In this case, congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge, senior congress leader shashi tharoor and Shiv Sena's priyanka Chaturvedi have criticized the central government for spending in vain to set up a selfie booth with the Prime Minister's photo. “By installing Modi's 3D selfie points at railway stations, they are completely wasting taxpayers' money. Modi government did not provide drought and flood relief to states. Funding for the 100-day work program for opposition-ruled states is also pending. But how dare they spend public money lavishly on these cheap election stunts!” Kharge lashed out.


“Not a day goes by when someone doesn't complain about a bad experience on a train journey. However, people are paying more for train services. This is a disgrace to Central Railway,” priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted. shashi tharoor said it was a blatant misuse of government funds.
