Reportedly previous 'caste census' was not done systematically. Hence, the congress government in the state should conduct a fresh survey and present the truth to the people, senior bjp leader BS Yeddyurappa said on Sunday. The Okkaligas and Lingayats, the two dominant communities in karnataka, have also expressed disapproval of the survey, calling it unscientific. He demanded that the report be rejected and a fresh survey conducted. 'There is a feeling in everyone's mind that the survey was not conducted systematically. I have the same opinion. Therefore, I urge the government to conduct a new caste census, inform the people about the facts and make sincere efforts in this regard,' Yeddyurappa said.


Meanwhile the then Siddaramaiah-led congress government (2013-2018) spent an estimated Rs 170 crore to conduct a 'caste census' in the state in 2015. had spent H. who was the chairman of the State backward classes Commission. Kantaraju was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the caste census report. The survey was completed by the end of Siddaramaiah's first term as chief minister in 2018. K Jayaprakash Hegde, who is currently the chairman of the karnataka State backward classes Commission, has been given time till january 31, 2024, to submit the caste census report to the government.

Siddaramaiah clarified on saturday that the administration is thinking about withdrawing the ban on wearing hijab in educational institutions in the state and a decision will be taken after discussion at the government level.


Everyone has a choice of dress and food. Earlier, chief minister Siddaramaiah had announced that he would withdraw the ban on hijab imposed by the previous bjp government.
