Reportedly former Wrestling Federation of india (WFI) president Brij bhushan Sharan Singh said here on sunday that he no longer has anything to do with the sport as he has many other responsibilities, including the lok sabha elections to be held next year. He said that I am now retiring from wrestling.

Brij bhushan made this comment after meeting bjp President JP Nadda. Earlier, the sports Ministry had suspended WFI till further orders. The basis for the WFI's suspension has been cited as the 'hasty announcement' of organizing the Under-15 and Under-20 national competitions 'without following proper procedure and without giving notice to the players for preparation'.

Brij bhushan is the current bjp mp from Kaiserganj.

The ministry also said that the new organization was working 'completely under the control of the former office-bearers' which is not in accordance with the National sports Code. WFI elections were held on 21 december in which Brij Bhushan's confidant sanjay singh and his panel won by a huge margin.

Brij bhushan told PTI, “Whatever has to be done regarding wrestling in india will be done by the elected body. I have nothing to do with this game now. I have other responsibilities too, which I have to focus on. Now I will stay away from the politics of this game.'' Brij bhushan is the current bjp mp from Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh.

The country's top wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and sakshi Malik had protested accusing Brij bhushan of sexually harassing female wrestlers.

Bajrang had returned his padma shri award to the government on friday after Brij Bhushan's close aide sanjay singh was elected to the post of President in the WFI elections. Earlier on Thursday, sakshi Malik had announced her retirement from wrestling for the same reason.
