Chief minister Stalin said that the situation in Srivaikundam and Tuticorin cities is very bad due to flooding in Tamiraparani river and its surrounding areas and requested to send maximum number of helicopters for rescue work. tamil Nadu chief minister M.K.Stalin has written to Union Defense minister Rajnath Singh to send additional helicopters for rescue and relief operations to the affected people in Tuticorin and tirunelveli districts. Out of which, the southern districts of tamil Nadu have been experiencing unprecedented rainfall for the past two days. It has been raining heavily since 1871 in a few places due to which about 40 lakh people living in tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts have been severely affected.
In his speech, the chief minister also mentioned that the situation in Srivaikundam and Tuticorin cities is very bad due to flooding in Tamiraparani river and surrounding areas. He mentioned that tamil Nadu government officials, State Disaster Response Team and National Disaster Response Force have been mobilized there to carry out rescue and relief operations, and the relief goods brought from other districts could not be distributed to the people due to the inundation of the connecting roads, so they could only be distributed by helicopters.
4 helicopters of the air Force, 2 helicopters of the Navy and 2 helicopters of the Coast Guard have been deployed to rescue the flood-affected people and raise food supplies. In his letter, the chief minister has requested to send maximum number of helicopters as more helicopters are required for rescue and relief operations considering the impact of heavy rains.
