Since it is Mandal Puja period, the crowd of devotees at sabarimala ayyappa swamy temple has been uncontrollable for more than a week. Because of this, devotees who have made reservations are waiting in long queues up to 18 hours to have darshan of Sami. There is a situation where there is no bus available from Nilagal to Pampa. All the buses were crowded and the devotees were stuck. The scenes of children being forced into the bus through the window and beaten to get a seat can also be seen vividly.

Similarly, the devotees are saying that even the basic facilities like water and food are not available to the devotees who have gathered on the ground. Opposition parties have alleged that the government has failed to make arrangements for devotees at Sabarimala. Due to unruly crowd and lack of basic facilities, there is a situation where devotees return home halfway without having Darshan at Sabarimala.

In this case, a consultation meeting on sabarimala was held online under the leadership of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The meeting was attended by Devasam Board minister Radhakrishnan, Travancore Devasam Board President prashant and Chief Secretary. The chief minister had said that the reason for the crowding was that one lakh two thousand devotees had come to sabarimala on december 7. In this regard, kerala Legislative assembly Opposition leader VT Satheesan said;- The UDF had sent a team to sabarimala to find out what was happening there. They have submitted a report, according to which the situation is deplorable. There is no coordination between various agencies in managing pilgrims. Some devotees had to wait up to 20 hours to visit the temple. This situation is due to the lack of experienced police officers on duty there.
