Generally, visa is very important for tourists traveling from one country to another. Similarly, we all know that we have to pay a fee of few thousand rupees to get that visa. el salvador, in Central America, now charges a $1,000 fee to travelers from Africa or india, reportedly in an effort to prevent migration to the united states via the Central American country. Those traveling from india or any of the more than 50 African countries with passports from that country will be liable to pay the toll, the Port Authority of el salvador said in a statement on its website dated october 20. The money raised will be used to upgrade the country's major international airport, the authority added. el salvador President Nayeb Bukele this week met with Brian Nichols, the US Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, to discuss "efforts to address irregular migration."In fiscal year 2023, which ended in September, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported 3.2 million immigration encounters across the country. Many immigrants from Africa and elsewhere come to the united states through Central America. Therefore, the new charge came into effect from october 23 and was imposed due to increased use of the country's main international airport, the statement said. airlines were also ordered to report daily to Salvadoran authorities about passengers arriving from 57 countries in india and Africa.
