There will be a tough fight between BJP and Congress on Badnavar seat

Sekar Chandra
This time the election contest on Badnawar assembly seat of madhya pradesh is very interesting, where two

arch rivals challenging each other on bharatiya janata party (BJP) and congress (Congress) tickets are coming

data-face to data-face for the third time. Yes, but this time their parties have changed. This is the reason why the interesting

phrase “Same candidate, but new party” is being heard on this seat.

The main electoral contest on the Badnavar assembly seat of Dhar district is between the state bjp government’s

Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion minister Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon (51) and congress leader

Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (72). Both the leaders belong to the Rajput community and are facing each other on

this seat for the third consecutive time. Along with Rajput community, voters of tribal and Patidar communities

also play an important role in deciding the election result of this seat which has about 2.21 lakh voters. Dattigaon

was among the 22 rebel congress MLAs who resigned from the assembly and joined bjp in the year 2020

under the patronage of Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat had joined Congress

This led to the fall of the then kamal nath government. After this, bjp returned to power in the state under the

leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Shekhawat left bjp and joined congress on september 2 this year (2023).

Now he is contesting on congress ticket against bjp candidate Dattigaon in Badnawar. Dattigaon said on

Tuesday, Shekhawat, a resident of Indore, is seen in Badnawar area during election time, but during the severe

outbreak of Covid-19, he was missing from Badnawar and he did not even inquire about the well-being of the

regional people.
