Agniveer's death in Siachen: Indian Army salutes!?
The indian army has paid tribute to the firefighter who died while serving in Siachen. The Leh-based fire and Fury Brigade of the indian army has reported that a firefighter has died while on duty in Siachen. The name of the Agniveer from maharashtra is reported to be Gawad Akshay Laxman. army Chief Manoj Pandey and all soldiers have condoled his death. The siachen glacier, at an altitude of around 20,000 feet in the Karakoram range, is known as the world's highest militarized zone, where soldiers have to contend with freezing temperatures and high winds. It is considered a challenging workplace for soldiers.

The fire and Fury Corps on its X page said, “All sections of the fire and Fury Corps pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of Agniveer Operator Gawad Akshay Laxman in the line of duty. Our deepest condolences to his family.” The central government is implementing a new scheme called Agnipath to recruit in the indian Army. According to this scheme, the age group of 17.5 to 21 years of both sexes can join the three forces namely army, Navy and air Force. Under this scheme, the recruits are called Agni soldiers. They will serve on contract basis for 4 years. Protests have also taken place against this plan of the central government. It is to be noted that earlier, there were criticisms that the fire fighters who lost their lives were not properly honoured.
