After hearing a loud noise on saturday night in the area of the lakshmi Barrage (Meddigadda) of the kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in the Jayashankar bhupalpally district, officials have opened an investigation. A minor section of the barrage bridge seemed out of line, raising suspicions that one of the 87 pillars' bases may have sunk slightly, leading to suspicions of a conspiracy.

To enable a thorough inspection of the pillars, officials have started to release the water that has been kept at the barrage as a precaution. Senior authorities were notified of the loud sound at around 7 p.m., and project officials proceeded with an emergency assessment of the structure. Officials were unable to determine what had occurred because it was already dark. Vehicle traffic across the bridge was immediately halted.
Situated on the boundary between telangana and Maharashtra, the 1632-meter-long lakshmi Barrage is supported by 87 pillars. Renowned building firm L&T constructed it. The barrage, with a current intake of 14,930 cusecs and a live storage of around 10 tmcft, was still undergoing development. Authorities believe that there may have been another cause for the sinking, which is being investigated, rather than the present influx or storage. The barrage was installed in 2019 and has a 16.1 tmcft capacity.
