Friday (October 20) is the last date for nomination for the first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. In

Senior congress minister Mohammad Akbar is the candidate from the high profile seat of Kawardha. Whereas
bjp has made active leader Vijay Sharma its candidate from Kawardha seat. It is believed that this time there

Kawardha assembly seat is a high profile seat because Mohammad Akbar, who was a minister in the Congress
government, is the mla from here and this time he is contesting from here again. Apart from this, Vijay

Mohammad Akbar had contested the 2018 assembly elections from Kawardha assembly constituency on behalf
of Congress. ashok Sahu had contested the elections from BJP's side. Mohammad Akbar had registered a big
victory by defeating ashok Sahu with a huge majority. This time Mohammad Akbar is again contesting from
Kawardha seat, but this time instead of ashok Sahu, bjp has fielded Vijay Sharma. Experts believe that this
time in the 2023 assembly elections, there will be a fierce electoral battle on Kawardha seat and the difference
in votes will not be much.
Let us tell you that in the year 2018 assembly elections, there were a total of 2,91,821 voters in Kawardha seat.
Of these, 2,40,739 voters had exercised their franchise. In the year 2018, a total of 82.50 percent voting took
place on this seat. In this, 56.63 percent votes went to the account of Mohammad Akbar of congress Party.
Waheem BJP's ashok Sahu got 32 percent votes. Independent Ramkhilavan Dahria got 2.74 percent votes and
Agam Das Anant of Ajit Jogi's party JCC (J) got 2.60 percent votes. Thus, Mohammad Akbar won a big victory
by defeating his nearest rival ashok Sahu of bjp by a huge margin.
