Why was there no agreement on seats between Congress and Samajwadi Party?
assembly elections are going to be held in five states in the country by the end of this year. With the announcement of
the date of this election, all the parties have started releasing the lists of their respective candidates. On october 15,
congress had released the first list of candidates for the assembly elections to be held in three states Chhattisgarh,
Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. After which now Samajwadi party has also released the list of its other candidates for 9
assembly seats. It was expected that congress might form an alliance with SP in the state. But, the hopes of an alliance
between the two parties in madhya pradesh ended as soon as the congress list came out. In fact, in its first list, Congress
has announced candidates for four of the seven seats where the Akhilesh Yadav-led party has already announced
candidates in the list. SP has again announced the names of nine more candidates today.
Candidates were announced for these seats
Now looking at the list of both the parties, it is clear that congress and SP, two important components of the alliance of
28 opposition parties being formed for the general elections, have come face to face in the mp assembly elections. The
four assembly seats on which congress and Samajwadi party have announced the names of candidates are Chitrangi,
Mehgaon, Bhander and Rajnagar. Talking about the last assembly elections, out of these four seats, congress had to face
defeat only in Chittarangi, except Chittarangi, congress had won on all the other three seats.
Bhander: congress had won this assembly seat by 40 thousand votes in the 2018 assembly elections, but in the by-
election held after defection, congress lost this seat by only 161 votes.
Rajnagar: In the last assembly elections, congress was successful in winning this seat for the third consecutive time,
however, the support of Samajwadi party is also not less in this area. In the last assembly elections, SP had got more
than 23 thousand votes from this seat.
