The protesters were contained across the street from the High Commission by british security personnel who had been stationed at the scene. A few days prior to the protest, Khalistani extremists prevented vikram Doraiswami, the indian High Commissioner to the UK, from entering a gurdwara in Glasgow, Scotland. india informed the british government about the incident and demanded that the offenders data-face harsh punishment.In a statement, the gurdwara where Doraiswami was refused entry denounced the incident and described it as "disorderly behaviour to disrupt the peaceful proceedings of a Sikh place of worship." The incident was described as "concerning" by Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the UK's minister for the Indo-Pacific, who also stressed the importance of maintaining the accessibility of all of the country's places of worship.Supporters of Khalistan staged a similar demonstration outside the indian High Commission in July, displaying posters of vikram Doraiswami and shashank Vikram, the indian consul general in Birmingham, who incited anti-Indian sentiment.
