Telangana Laban Lambadis protest for ST status

On Saturday, Laban Lambadis organized rallies in kamareddy to call for their retention on the backward classes (BC) list rather than the scheduled tribes (ST) list. They also sought the issue of land titles for Podu lands and the creation of a Laban Lambadi organization.

The demonstration was attended by Laban Lambadis from the districts of kamareddy, nizamabad, Nirmal, adilabad, and Sangareddy. At Nizamsagar Crossroads, they set up a dharna after congregating at the CSI grounds. police stopped them as they attempted to enter the district Integrated Offices Complex (DIOC).

In the kamareddy area, the police also detained Laban Lambadis as a preventative measure. The demonstrators chanted anti-BRS chants and remembered chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's assurance that Laban Lambadis would be included in the st list. However, as a form of protest, Laban Lambadi leaders also want to run in the assembly election. Due to police pursuit, a few Laban Lambadis were hurt during the demonstration.

Hundreds of people from other districts of nizamabad and adilabad have reached kamareddy district headquarters. While going towards the collectorate as a rally from the CSI ground, the police stopped them at the new bus stand saying that they did not have permission. Due to this, there was a fight between the two groups and there was a situation of tension. Later, hundreds of people reached Nizamsagar Chowrasta and protested on the road.


They protested here for more than half an hour and reached the Collectorate by different routes. Barry tried to push the cadets inside and was stopped by the police. As a result, they staged a sit-in on the road in front of the main gate of the Collectorate and held a dharna for about 2 hours. He said that until the government gives a clear assurance, there is no way to stop the agitation.
