Telangana CM KCR releases special funds ahead of polls
Before the model code of conduct is put into effect, the government would distribute Rs 5,000 crore from the Chief Minister's Special Development Fund in the next two weeks to help with development projects in all assembly seats, according to official sources in the CMO.

The CDF for MLAs was increased by the BRS administration from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore starting in 2021–2022, making it comparable to the MPLADS (Members of parliament local Area Development Scheme). The state administration imposed limits, citing a downturn in the economy in 2019–20 and the Covid–19 epidemic in 2020–2021 and 2021–2022. As a result, MLAs did not receive CDF funding. MLAs were unable to engage in developmental initiatives as a result.
Despite receiving Rs 5 crore on paper, MLAs really only earn Rs 2 crore since the state government mandated that MLAs spend Rs 3 crore to improve the infrastructure in government schools as part of the "Mana Ooru-Mana Badi" scheme. According to reports, the government is directly taking Rs 3 crore out of CDF funding and giving just Rs 2 crore to MLAs.
Due to the non-payment of bills to contractors, some earlier-launched projects were still pending, leaving MLAs struggling with a lack of funding. Due to infrastructural problems, such as poor roads and inadequate drainage systems, the majority of the villages and towns in assembly seats data-face high levels of local demand for improvements.
MLAs are under pressure to complete unfinished projects and satisfy new voter expectations as the assembly elections draw closer.
