Aditya L1 begins collecting scientific data: ISRO..!?
In that way, Aditya L-1 spacecraft's Earth orbit has been raised 4 times. The height of the existing new ring road is 256 km. X 1,21,973 km. is isro has also informed that the next circular path raising operation will take place on the 19th at 2 am. During this, it is reported that the spacecraft will travel towards the Lagrange point from the Earth's gravity. Meanwhile, isro said that the Aditya L1 spacecraft has started collecting scientific data. isro also said that this data will help scientists to study the behavior of particles around the Earth.
ISRO said on its X page, “STEPS instrument's sensors have started measuring superheated and energetic ions and electrons at a distance of 50,000 km from Earth. This data enables scientists to study the behavior of particles around the Earth.” Aditya L1 satellite carried a total of 7 payloads. Of these, 4 payloads will directly probe the Sun. It is reported that the 3 payloads will probe the Sun's exterior, particles, and the L-1 region.
As such, the Supra Thermal & Energetic Particle Spectrometer (STEPS) instrument is part of the ASPEX payload. It is the STEPS instrument that is currently beginning to collect scientific data. STEPS includes six sensors, each tracking in different directions and measuring superheated and energetic ions from 20 keV/nucleon to 5 MeV/nucleon. These measurements are conducted using low and high energy particle spectrometers. isro said data collected in Earth's orbits, especially during Earth's magnetic field, helps scientists analyze the behavior of particles around the Earth.
STEPS was activated on the 10th at a distance of 50,000 km from Earth. This distance is 8 times the radius of the Earth. STEPS was developed by the Physical Research Laboratory with support from the Center for Space Applications, Ahmedabad.
