Telangana Hyderabad - Indecision over Milad juloos reveals cracks among organisers
The Milad juloos have been organized for the past 16 years by SUFI (Sunni United Forum of India), which represents the dominant school of islam in Hyderabad. The Seeratun Nabi Academy, Khwankhwah-e-Shuttaria, Quadri Chaman, and Quadria international are just a few examples of the numerous small and big organizations and orders that fall under the umbrella of SUFI.
When the Quadri Chaman officials announced the cessation of the juloos, the situation unexpectedly changed. Their justification was that on september 28, both the milad-un-nabi juloos and the Ganesh immersion procession took place simultaneously. Although it wasn't expressed specifically, worries about probable law and order violations in the city probably had a role in this decision. According to critics, this decision was taken without in-depth engagement with other pertinent organizations, which caused significant misunderstanding.
Notably, Maulana ali Quadri from the Seerat-un-Nabi Academy raised his concerns. He was a part of the team of Muslim religious leaders that visited kashmir in 2019 following the repeal of Article 370. He stated that those who announced the suspension neglected to consult with other parties, and that in order to emphadata-size the significance of the event, a conversation about the juloos with the highest police authorities was required. The complaints of Maulana ali were widely disseminated on social media. A few days later, he changed his mind and claimed that the Milad parade was really canceled rather than postponed because of worries about probable community unrest and the resulting breakdown of law and order. Unknown factors may have contributed to Maulana Ali's abrupt change of heart.
While the Muslim community, particularly the youth, struggled to deal with these changes, SUFI organizations started to hear rumblings of discontent and protest. Figures from various organizations, including Maulana Sayeed Quadri from Quadria international, Syed Nadeem Hussaini from Dargah Hazrat Shah Raju Qattal, Shujauddin Iftequari from Khankha-e-Haqqania Anwaria, and Mufti Anwar Ahmed, among others, gathered at Khankhwah-e-Shuttaria under the banner of the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee. Kamil Pasha was chosen to serve as President during this conference, while Khader Mohiuddin Quadri was appointed to serve as Secretary. They disputed Maulana Quadri's assertion and declared they would still hold the Milad juloos, but not on september 28.
People questioned and commented on social media sites, wondering why these factions couldn't come to an agreement. It is conceivable that the city police, wary of potential commotion, participated in arguing for the Milad juloos' postponement, suspension, or cancellation. According to sources, the State administration and the police are taking precautions to avoid any indication of racial strife. In an effort to spread knowledge of the situation and the possible repercussions of a breakdown in law and order, the South Zone police have aggressively engaged with stakeholders, peace committees, and the general public. To inspire public confidence and prevent prospective troublemakers, the police have enhanced patrols, interacted with those who have a history of acting disruptively, carried out Mission Chabutra activities, and increased surveillance.
According to some commentators, postponing the procession could be the better course of action because cancelling it could have set a bad precedent for the Milad juloos.
