Telangana Assembly Elections - BJP plans to use Sanatana Dharma controversy

The bjp, which has been fighting to stay in the race for the upcoming elections for the State assembly, is now preparing to use the controversial remarks made about Sanatana dharma by minister Udayanidhi stalin and chief minister MK stalin of tamil Nadu as a weapon against the BRS, Congress, and the AIMIM during the election campaign.
In a recent speech to party officials, bjp State President G. kishan reddy urged them to portray the BRS, Congress, and AIMIM as anti-Sanatana dharma parties and utilise Sanatana dharma as electoral weaponry to attack the opposition. He allegedly requested that leaders bring the bjp to protect hinduism and unify the populace in the banner of Hindutva.

Political observers feel that the initiative would be ineffective, nevertheless, as Dalit groups and OBCs who have experienced caste oppression may turn away from the saffron party. In reality, the bjp, led by prime minister Narendra Modi, has promoted Hindutva by primarily stoking anti-Muslim animus and has never employed Sanatana dharma to deal with weaker groups.
A significant portion of the OBC and Dalit communities were won over by the bjp in the last two lok sabha elections, and if the party attempted to use Sanatana dharma as a wedge issue in the upcoming elections in Telangana, it could further harm its chances in the upcoming assembly elections. The majority of the weaker part communities reject the forces that support the caste system because they think that Sanatana dharma promotes it. It's interesting to note that even bjp leaders from marginalised groups fear that any overt Hindutva position might harm the party's chances of gaining power in the State.
Since a data-sizeable portion of Telangana's population comes from backward class and weaker sectors of society, the BJP's aim to make Sanatana dharma a campaign topic is likely to help its opposition party, notably BRS, which has strong support from these communities. A bjp representative from the weaker segment claimed that by invoking Sanatana dharma to criticise opposing parties, the bjp risks becoming sidelined in the State and suffering severe political repercussions.
