Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge was not invited to the G20 dinner which has caused controversy. All india Congress president and rajya sabha Leader of Opposition mallikarjun Kharge was not invited to attend the G20 dinner hosted by President Draupathi Murmu for G20 leaders and foreign dignitaries. The non-invitation to Kharge has sparked controversy amid criticism that the invitation to the President's G20 dinner was used as 'Bharat' instead of 'India'. All Union and State Ministers and Chief Ministers of all states, including opposition-ruled states, have been invited to the event, which will be attended by world leaders. Apart from that, more than 500 rich businessmen of india including mukesh ambani and gautam adani have also been invited. Former Prime Ministers manmohan singh and HD Deve Gowda are also on the guest list. On the other hand, one of the leaders of the opposition party has said that none of the leaders of the opposition party and the leaders of the parliamentary house belonging to the opposition party have been invited to this event. Also, the opposition has accused the bjp government of using the G20 summit for political gains.
It is pointed out that the non-invitation of mallikarjun Kharge, who holds the status of a cabinet minister, could further strain the relationship between the opposition and the Modi government, who are at loggerheads on various issues. West bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, delhi chief minister arvind kejriwal and tamil Nadu chief minister M.K.Stalin have confirmed to attend the dinner.
