Telangana Hyderabad Airport - Customs officials seize gold worth 99 Lakhs

In four separate incidents, customs officers at rajiv gandhi International airport (RGIA) detained travellers and recovered 1.64 kilogrammes of gold worth Rs 99 lakh and foreign money totaling Rs 13,19,303. In the first incident, a traveller from kuwait who had just deplaned was stopped and had gold worth Rs 75,80,650 weighing 1253 grammes hidden in the men's restroom trash can when he was apprehended. 


In the second instance, 233 grammes of gold worth Rs 14,14,310 that was hidden within the luggage of a traveller arriving from bahrain was discovered. In the third instance, a Kuwaiti traveller was discovered with 151 grammes of gold worth Rs 9,16,570, stashed within their luggage. The gold was broken up into smaller pieces.

In the fourth, a traveller headed to dubai was discovered carrying foreign cash, including 58,000 Saudi Riyals and 2025 uae Dirhams for Rs 13,19,303. According to the Customs Act of 1962, the passengers' gold and money have been taken, and proceedings have been filed against them.
