Numerous taxi drivers in the state are represented by the telangana Gig and Platform workers Union (TGPWU), which has started a "No Fare No Air" campaign to protest "low fares" charged for rides to rajiv gandhi International airport (RGIA). Members of the TGPWU have made the decision to delay airport passengers if fares to the airport are less than Rs. 1000 to 1200 as part of their campaign. They have also chosen to boycott taxi rides if rates to the airport are less than Rs. 400 to 500 on cab aggregator apps like ola and Uber.

The goal of the campaign, according to TGPWU founder Shaik Salauddin, is to get firms like ola and uber to "understand the cost involved in running the cab service to the airport." "From the airport, it costs between 300 and 600 rupees to drive to the city. This fee does not even cover the cost of petrol, and on top of that, we must give ola and uber a 30% commission. The day is over, and the driver has nothing. After dropping off a customer, we have to wait another 4 to 5 hours to obtain a transport back to the city, he added.

Salauddin stated that 2500 drivers are taking part in the protest and over 5000 drivers are standing in support of the cause. Apologising for the inconvenience to passengers, the TGPWU founder said that this protest “is for the survival of drivers,” adding that the drivers “want the customers to also understand their pain.
