How many times have special sessions been called?

June 2017: This is not the first time that a special session has been called during the tenure of the narendra Modi

government in India. Even before this session, a special session has been called once in the Modi government. In fact, on

June 30, 2017, the Modi government had called a special session of parliament for the first time in the Central Hall of

parliament to implement the Goods and services Tax (GST).

Year 2015: According to a news published in indian Express, before the year 2015, a special session was called on 26

november 2015. That day the government had called this session to pay tribute to BR Ambedkar. In the year 2015, India

was celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar. From this year onwards 26th november was declared

Constitution Day.

Year 2002: Before the year 2015, a special session was called in 2002 also. The nda government, which was in power at

that time, had passed the Anti-Terrorism Bill in the joint meeting of both the Houses on march 26, because the ruling

coalition did not have the majority to pass it in the Rajya Sabha.

Year 1992: A parliament session was called at midnight on august 9, 1992, on the 50th anniversary of the Quit India

Movement.
