On Sunday, Congressman jairam ramesh questioned the bjp administration about the panel's makeup and said it had already decided on its recommendations. Ramesh, the Congress' communications director, made his comments a day after adhir ranjan chowdhury, the party's leader in the lok sabha, rebuffed the government's offer to join the panel established to study the idea of "One Nation, One Election."
"The High-level Committee on what is being referred to as 'One Nation One Election' is a ceremonial exercise, and the timing is exceedingly dubious. Its proposals are already set down in its terms of reference, he wrote on X. The Congressman for rajya sabha said, "The composition of the Committee is also a total give-away and the congress leader in the lok sabha adhir ranjan chowdhury last night very rightly refused to be part of it."
Former President ram nath kovind will serve as the committee's head, along with home minister amit shah and other members, as it reviews the results of the "One Nation, One Election." The 'one nation, one election' team will look into a number of issues, including whether or not the states would need to ratify a constitutional modification to allow for simultaneous elections.
