The gujarat high court on tuesday directed a sessions court here to hear cases challenging the trial court’s order

summoning aam aadmi party leaders arvind kejriwal and sanjay singh in a criminal defamation case filed

over their comments on prime minister Narendra Modi's degree. Transfer the petitions of Wali Aam Aadmi

Party leaders to some other judge.

A bench of Judge Justice Samir Dave directed the Principal Sessions Judge, Ahmedabad, to refer the revision

petition of the two leaders against the summons issued by the Metropolitan court to another judge, who would

decide on the matter within 10 days from the date of assignment.

He was told that the judge in charge hearing the case is on leave and has fixed september 16 for it, while the

metropolitan court was to hear the case on august 31.

After this, the high court disposed of the petitions of both the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Advocate Nirupam Nanavati, appearing for the complainant gujarat University, said that they would not oppose

the plea of the aam aadmi party leaders to adjourn the trial of the criminal case before the metropolitan court

for a reasonable period till the final hearing in the sessions court and disposal of their revision petitions. do.

He said, “No one can stop him from filing an application (for adjournment of hearing) and the learned magistrate

can consider the application. Meanwhile, the date of final hearing on the revision petition can be fixed. We can't

have any objection."
