Russian President spoke to PM Modi on phone...?
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with PM Modi today (August 28). During this, he discussed the G20 Summit in India. The two leaders also discussed the importance of the agreements reached at the recent BRICS summit in South Africa, including the expansion of BRICS.
The PMO said that prime minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and reviewed the progress on several issues of bilateral cooperation. The two leaders intend to implement large-scale energy projects and expand logistics infrastructure. Also confirmed the intention to develop space cooperation between the two countries.
Putin will not come to india for the G20 summit
The PMO informed that President Putin expressed his inability to attend the G20 Summit in New delhi on 9-10 september 2023 and informed that russia will be represented by the Foreign minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov. Agreeing with Russia's decision, the prime minister thanked President Putin for Russia's consistent support of all initiatives under India's G20 Chairmanship.
South Africa did not even go to the BRICS conference
In the past Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov had said that Putin would not go to New delhi personally to participate in the G20 summit. Earlier, Putin did not even go to the BRICS conference in South Africa. Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov had joined in his place.
