Amid speculations of bihar chief minister nitish kumar (CM Nitish Kumar) contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha

elections from Uttar Pradesh, State (UP) in-charge of Janata Dal (United) and bihar government minister Shravan

Kumar on saturday (August 26) Cleared it. shravan Kumar directly said that neither the chief minister of Bihar

has expressed any such wish, nor has the party leadership taken any decision in this regard. JDU minister has

given this statement in Ballia.

Speaking to reporters here, Bihar’s Rural Development minister said, "People from bihar, Uttar Pradesh and

different states of the country are demanding that nitish kumar should be made the prime minister on behalf of

India’s, a coalition (of opposition parties)." When asked about the possibility of Nitish contesting the Lok Sabha

elections from Phulpur lok sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, he clarified, "Nitish Kumar has not yet shown any desire

to contest the lok sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh. Neither has expressed nor the party leadership has taken

any decision on this.

'Our party wants Nitish to contest the elections'

Earlier, in May, JDU national general secretary and former mp Dhananjay Singh told PTI, "Our party wants

Bihar chief minister nitish kumar to contest from Phulpur lok sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh." Please tell that

Phulpur parliamentary seat has been represented by former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and VP Singh.

Probably one of the main reasons for JDU eyeing this seat is that eight times the candidates of Kurmi (Patel)

community have won elections from here and the current mp Keshari Devi patel is also from this community.

Nitish also comes from this community.
