The new president of Uttar Pradesh congress, ajay Rai, claimed on friday that rahul gandhi will contest from
Amethi in the 2024 lok sabha elections. Since then the discussion about this high-profile constituency has
started. Which has been a traditional seat for the Gandhi-Nehru family for a long time.

constituency and lost to BJP's smriti irani in 2019.

Jagdishpur, Tiloi and Salon constituencies are dominated by bjp MLAs, while Gauriganj and Amethi seats are
held by the Samajwadi Party. Irani's supporters in the Amethi lok sabha seat have highlighted the development
work done by both the central and state governments.
rahul gandhi has visited Amethi thrice since his defeat in the 2019 elections, and the prospect of contesting
from the same constituency this time has raised hopes among local party leaders. rahul gandhi has maintained a
visible presence in Amethi, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic when he delivered relief material to the
region. He has a strong reach among the people there. If rahul gandhi decides to contest from his former seat,
the political battle in Amethi constituency may intensify in the next year's lok sabha elections.
