Tamil Nadu does not need to go to Supreme Court..!?
Karnataka deputy chief minister TK Sivakumar has said that there is no need for tamil Nadu to go to the supreme court so quickly regarding Cauvery river water. The Cauvery Management Commission has been set up as per the supreme court order to resolve the issues in the distribution of Cauvery river water. The meeting of the commission was held in delhi recently. In that meeting, officials from the karnataka side said that only 8,000 cubic feet of water will be released to tamil Nadu and that too only till august 22. Already, no order was issued in this meeting to provide the karnataka state with the 37.97 TMC water deficit due to tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, the tamil Nadu government has filed a detailed 113-page petition in the supreme court seeking an order to the karnataka government to release the pending Cauvery water immediately. In it, "24 thousand cubic feet of water per second should be released from the Cauvery throughout the month of August. In this situation, karnataka Water Resources minister and deputy chief minister TK Sivakumar has said that taking into consideration the state's drinking water needs, water availability and farmers' feelings, there is no need for the tamil Nadu government to go to the supreme court so quickly regarding Cauvery river water. He also said that he will consult with government lawyers and legal experts about the government's action in the supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “We have records of rainfall and water flow for KRS and other dams in Cauvery river basin. We have sent a message to the farmers. Our Agriculture minister N. Saluvaraya Swamy has also asked the farmers not to sow crops here. Because everyone knows the situation.” said. Pointing out that there is a crisis for both the states, he said that there is no need for tamil Nadu to approach the supreme court in such a hurry. "We are ready to provide water to tamil Nadu by understanding the farmers' sentiments regarding the availability of water, the state's need for drinking water. However, I cannot understand why tamil Nadu is in such a hurry.” DK Sivakumar also said.
“There is no need to worry as the Cauvery will be opened under the supervision of the Water Management Authority. Farmers of both the states should be saved together. So no need to worry, I request tamil Nadu to work together based on facts. We don't want to put your farmers in misery, and you don't want to put our farmers in misery." DK Sivakumar also asked.
