J&K celebrates Independence Day without restrictions..!
It is mandatory for government officials and employees to attend Independence Day celebrations. Violators have been warned that disciplinary action will be taken against them. Jammu and Kashmir's Independence Day celebrations will be held at Bakshi Maidan in Srinagar. While the stadium was closed in 2018 for renovation and development work, the Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Bakshi Stadium after five years. Due to this, three layers of security have been put in place. Apart from this, security has been strengthened in the data-border districts including the Line of Border Control. In the past, restrictions such as curfew would be imposed in parts of the kashmir Valley till the end of Independence Day celebrations. Also, as a security measure, mobile and internet services will be suspended till noon. The separatist Hurriyat organization will call for strikes on august 15 and january 26. Generally the Independence Day programs are presided over by the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. However, after article 370, which grants special status to the state, was repealed in 2019 and it was divided into the Union Territories of Jammu and Ladakh, programs are being conducted under the leadership of the Lieutenant Governor, who acts as an administrative officer.
