Finally, Osmania University to soon be a closed campus in Telangana Hyderabad
The expansive osmania university campus is now being prepared to become a closed campus and will soon be off-limits to automotive traffic. Instead, a connection road will be built around the campus, linking Adikmet and Tarnaka to the Vidyanagar-Amberpet side. Once established, the additional stretch would make sure that commuters didn't utilise the main road around the university as a thoroughfare.
The announcement on saturday by MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao that the Adikmet link road will receive quick approval gave the university administration, which has long advocated for a closed campus, a boost. The action was taken in response to a plea made by OU Vice Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder on saturday during a gathering at Nizam College. The connection road, estimated to cost Rs 16.50 crore, was requested by the V-C to Rama Rao. The road will be constructed starting from the Adikmet flyover, through the ECE Department and the Andhra Mahila Sabha, and ending close to the NCC Gate of the university.
Currently, the institution permits through traffic on the main campus road from 6 am to 8 pm. The campus will be closed once the connection road has been installed, according to Prof. Ravinder. It is only a little over 1.2 kilometres, and the requisite land has also been located, according to the official.
