Telangana BRS advertisement refers Nizamabad as ‘Induru’, sparks debate

A recent advertisement published in the telugu newspaper Namaste telangana by a local BRS mla has sparked a discussion about the renaming of Muslim-named cities and districts in Telangana. The state minister and the working president of the BRS, ktr, are prominently featured in the advertising along with information on development initiatives and open forums.

The use of the term "Induru" next to nizamabad in the advertising has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the BRS party's position on the matter. This action follows the BJP's repeated calls for Telangana's districts and cities with Muslim names to change their names. If the bjp is elected, it has also stated its desire to rename these locations.

A nizamabad citizen named Miskeen ahmed claims that ktr is against renaming locations having a Muslim background, despite the fact that the local BRS MLA's advertisement seems to suggest that nizamabad should be renamed. This has led some people to doubt the BRS party's constancy in taking a position.

KTR had earlier criticised the BJP's techniques of exploiting religious sensitivities for their objective. He has passionately opposed the BJP's strategy of change city names for political benefit. In answer to the BJP's demand, he had also recommended renaming Ahmedabad. The uproar grew when a story in the same publication misidentified nizamabad as "Induru" as the location of the IT Tower project.

Since many years ago, Nizamabad's renaming to "Induru" has been supported by bjp mp D Arvind, who represents the nizamabad Lok Sabha seat. His attitude has generated discussion, and nizamabad is rarely mentioned in his news conferences or party meetings.

It will be interesting to watch how ktr, who has vocally opposed the name change movement, will react to these new developments. Discussions concerning the controversy's effects on place renaming and the roles played by political parties in such choices have started.
