The initial discussion of the kollam Water Metro has started as it will facilitate the expansion of transport in the Ashtamudi backwater in Kollam. The general opinion that emerged in the kollam Corporation Council meeting is that the Biodiversity Circuit project is moving forward. In the first phase, the water metro service will reach Munrothuru. Later the project will be extended to Paravur and Chavara.

It is hoped that the inland water transport and tourism in the district will be revived with the arrival of the Water Metro.
