Kishori Pednekar is the leader of Shiv Sena's uddhav thackeray faction. She has been the Mayor of BMC from november 2019 to march 2022. During his mayorship, mumbai BMC bought body bags for Covid victims. bjp leader Kirit Somaiya has been accused of corruption regarding this purchase.



A case has been registered against former mayor Kishori Pednekar and two senior officials of the Greater mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under various sections of the IPC, including 420 (cheating) and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), mumbai police said. police have not shared any other information. bjp leader Kirit Somaiya said that crores of rupees have been cheated in BMC during the Kovid period. He has also complained to the government regarding this scam. Somaiya said that she had filed a complaint in July this year in connection with the body bag scam. Body bags worth Rs 1,500 each were bought for Rs 6,700. Somaiya alleged that funds worth crores of rupees were allegedly misappropriated in this purchase. Based on the complaint, the mumbai police registered an FIR against Kishori Pednekar and the Assistant Municipal Commissioner. Earlier, ED had also conducted raids in this regard.
