Telangana Governor seeks clarity from BRS govt on these 5 issues - TSRTC merger bill

SIBY JEYYA
She asked the state government for an explanation on five issues pertaining to the welfare of the workers, funds from the centre, and more as TSRTC employees took to the streets to protest telangana governor tamilisai Soundararajan's refusal to sign the TSRTC merger draught law. On Saturday, she also called TSRTC employees to raj bhavan for negotiations and a settlement.

The governor responded to the demonstrations by saying that she is "pained" to learn that the employees' strike has caused "inconvenience to the common public" since it has caused services to be delayed for the public in numerous areas of the state, including Hyderabad. "I am saddened to learn of the rtc employees' strike that is causing the general public discomfort...I want to let them know that I am always with them. In fact, I was with them during the previous strike as well. Now, too, I am carefully researching it since their rights need to be protected, she wrote in a tweet.

Here are the five issues raised by the Governor:

• The Bill does not contain any details about central grants, shares, loans, and other assistance in rtc since 1958.

• The Bill lacks comprehensive details on changing the status of rtc as per Schedule IX of the State Apportionment Act.

• The State government is stating that the TSRTC employees will be treated as equal to government employees. The governor asked whether the Industrial Disputes Act and labor laws are applicable to their issues and how their benefits are protected.

• The governor asked the government to give clear details regarding whether all rtc employees will be given pensions at par with government employees in the merger draft bill

• She asked the government to give clear details so that rtc employees can get justice and other benefits in matters like their promotions, and their cadre normalization, as there are no posts like a conductor, controller, etc. among the government employees.

On Monday, July 31, the State Cabinet, which was presided over by chief minister K. chandrasekhar Rao, decided to combine the TSRTC with the government. The choice would allow 43,373 company employees to get government treatment. The demonstrations follow the governor's announcement on Saturday, which stated that she would approve the TSRTC merger law after carefully reviewing all relevant legal concerns, which would take "more time."
