The government of andhra pradesh has issued an ordinance giving the opportunity to sell assigned lands after 20 years. As approved in the last cabinet meeting, this ordinance was released in the name of governor Justice Abdul Nazir, amending the old law. The YS jagan government has taken a historic decision by providing ownership rights on assigned lands.

It is said that this will benefit more than 15 lakh farmers and will end disputes over assigned lands in the state. The government has allocated thousands of acres of land to the poor for decades in the state. However, those who got them, their descendants only had the right to enjoy those lands but no rights to sell them. But according to the latest decision of the government, if they get assigned lands after 20 years, they will get full rights on those lands. There will be an opportunity to sell.

At this time, if there are non-agricultural lands next to the assigned land and their prices are higher, the buyer should pay the difference according to the market value, the government said in the ordinance.Whereas, those who were given lands before 1954, there is no condition that they should not be sold anywhere in Pattala. In the Assigned Acts issued after 1954, there is a provision not to sell lands. Due to this, there is no opportunity for their sales.

However, after the ycp government came to power, the lands assigned before 1954 were removed from the prohibited list! On august 30, 2022, cm jagan formed a committee of public representatives with 13 sc and st MLAs headed by minister of Revenue dharmana prasada rao to study and report on these lands. According to the recommendations made by the latest committee, the government has taken this decision!
